Annual Conference

The Center for the Study of the Korean War's Annual Conference has a dedicated following of scholars from all over the United States, as well as veterans, students, researchers, and many people who for one reason or another have an interest in the study of the Korean War. To facilitate their interaction, the Center hosts an annual conference.

Call for Papers

The Center for the Study of the Korean War's 10th
Annual Conference on War and Media
will focus on any aspect of War
conference dates are 26-28 February 2009.

I invite you and any of your colleagues to submit a paper for our 10th Annual Conference on War and Media. The conference is held 26-28 February, 2009, at Graceland University, Independence, Missouri. Each year the Annual Conference has a different area of focus; past conference topics have been War and Fiction, War and Film, War and Propaganda, War and Gender and more.

The Center for the Study of the Korean War is a library, archives, and research facility committed to the collection and preservation of materials relating to the Korean War. Founded in 1989 by Korean War veteran and historian Dr. Paul M. Edwards, the Center is affiliated with Graceland University and housed on Graceland’s Independence Campus, a few blocks from the Harry S. Truman Presidential Museum and Library.

Presentations at the conference focus on issues relating to the experience, analysis, understanding, and reporting of war; any war. At least one session however, is reserved for the Korean War. Please submit your presentation paper to us (in RTF or DOC format), no later than November 19, 2008, at the email address below. Whether you decide to present or not, we hope you will attend the Center for the Study of the Korean War’s 10th Annual Conference on War and Media. It promises to be a rewarding and enlightening conference.

Last Year's Conference

2008, the Center for the Study of the Korean War held its 9th Annual Conference on War and Media in Independence, Missouri. Each year Graceland University sponsors the conference as an opportunity for scholars, students, veterans, and anyone interested to gather and share information, questions, stories, and academic papers concerning war.

The theme of the conference was War and Mecical Services, and we were proud to have speakers from Graceland University, the University of Lincoln in Lincolnshire, England, Georgetown University, the National Archives, the US Military Academy at West Point, Bryn Mawr College, among many others.

Look for all the papers presented at the conference to be published in The Proceedings available in the summer of 2008. For a copy contact the Center.
